From the Pastor
Religion always tries to change man from the outside in: make the skirts longer, make the dresses looser, put something on your head, take off the makeup, lengthen the sleeves, cut the hair or whatever it is. Don't get me wrong I believe that women should be modest in their dress. I believe that men should take pride in their appearance. But this is not what changes us. We can have the best clothes, we can put on the most holy of appearances however, this is not what brings change in our lives. Although the outside appearance may cause others to think a certain way of us. God knows the real you is just being covered up. Changing our appearance only affects the outside, real lasting change can only come from the inside. We will only change who we are by changing the way we think. Romans 12:1-2 And so, dear brother and sister, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let go transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. What the Word is saying here is this: if there is going to be any effective change, you must change the way you think. For most, this is easier said than done. There are two types of spirits one choses to listen to. The spirit of the world "customs and behaviors of this world." Or, the Spirit of God. We are in the world, so it is very difficult to completely stop this voice. What we can do however, is counter act the voice of the world with the voice of God. You are probably thinking; how can I hear His voice? There are many ways to hear the voice of God, the one I will be speaking of today is His Word. Changing what goes in your mind will change what comes out of your life. Income changes outcome! I was not raised in church but when I received salvation and got ahold of this concept it changed my life. Stop trying to change who you are and let God change the way you think. Again, you change the income and the outcome will change as well. When you focus on the outside you will live in a constant state of displeasure. Every little mistake you make will be focused on. God doesn’t focus on them so why should you. Look, this is very simple, start feeding more on the Word of God and let the Spirit of God change you from the inside-out. I have had many give the excuse, “I don’t understand the bible.” I don't feel this is a valid excuse today. We have so many modern translations of the Word of God which make reading it very understandable. Take it from someone who knows, stop focusing on the world and what it thinks, stop focusing on people, religious or not, and what they think and stop focusing on the negative things you do or have done. Simply go to Gods Word and focus on what the Spirit of God is saying to you and the outcome of your life will work itself out. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in ALL you do, and He will show you which path to take.
