Before we get into the Christian doctrine and what makes it essential, we need to understand “doctrine”.
Doctrine definition: a belief or set of beliefs held and taught by a Church, political party, or other group. Why is this so important? These doctrines are the very line that draws the line in which you can distinguish the believers of Christ, the world, cults, occults, and anything in-between. We should be able to debate and disagree on nonessentials without dividing over them. When it comes to the essentials there must be unity. The essentials act
as a North Star by which the course of Christianity is set and the direction we should follow. It is an unchanging reference point which can be an anchor through the ages.
“In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; and in all things, charity.”
Deity of Christ
